Education and Training

I work as an educator in various capacities - presenting subject matter expertise and facilitating training for a variety of audiences. I enjoy partnering with individuals and organisations who desire to think differently.

I am the founder of Learning Consent - a sexual consent training platform that exists to enable young people of all genders & sexualities to get better at sexual consent.

Occasionally I work as a University Sociology seminar leader and tutor. I am passionate about sharing the enlightenment that Sociological thinking bought to my life over ten years ago.

Speaking

I like to talk. And I am comfortable talking about things most people aren’t comfortable talking about - like sex, and gendered violence, and ethics. My research has gifted me with some amazing stories, and it is a privilege to share them with an audience. I have presented at conferences both locally and internationally, and it is rewarding to experience the ways in which a research project can enlighten listeners.

Researcher Wellbeing Training

Are you a feminist qualitative researcher whose research centres on sensitive topics? Do you conduct interviews that involve the potential for traumatic lived experiences to be discussed? Then this training is for you.

Developed over the course of conducting a number of my own sensitive qualitative research projects, this training is designed to equip feminist qualitative researchers with the knowledge and tools required in order to be mindful of the occupational hazards that accompany sensitive qualitative research. Upon completion of the training, you will be equiped with a set of practices to ensure self-care throughout the research project.

The training is delivered across the following three modules:

·      Module one: Understanding the hazards that accompany qualitative researcher strengths

·      Module two: Knowing your values, to inform your boundaries – developing your own research ethos

·      Module three: Interviewer self-care and risk management for qualitative researchers

The training is designed to be delivered over the course of 1-2 days, for groups of up to ten participants at a time. It includes opportunities for self-reflection and meaningful group discussion. Currently the training is being offered online, via Zoom. However, as COVID 19 restrictions ease, the training will be made available in person.
